Welder

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To perform welding, fabrication and assemble of precision and close tolerance parts for the manufacturing of sealless pumps. Lay out, fit, and weld a variety of standard and special fabricated, cast, and forged small and medium size weldment.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Read and interpret blueprints/drawings, method sheets, routers and related technical data to determine weld and assembly requirements.
• Weld, Assemble, inspect and test components and assemblies according to procedures and documented specifications.
• Select and set-up equipment, plan layout, position, align and weld components using standard fixtures and specialized setups including the use of welding positioners, turntables, and automatic wire feeders.
• Check finished work to ensure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints
• May prepare, fabricate, layout, and produce small diameter butt-welded piping subassemblies in stainless steel and higher alloys to exacting tolerances with RT, PT, and other NDE requirements.
• Repair and re-work parts and assemblies by grinding, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts. Excavates, prepares, welds, grinds, and grit blasts casting defects.
• May apply hard surfacing materials to shafts or other parts.
• Operates metal cutting equipment (mechanical & plasma) as required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain ASME/AWS welding qualifications as required.
• Participates actively in continuous improvement through individual process changes and participation on cross-functional improvement teams.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment Daily Cleaning of machines, tooling and work area.
• Follow Quality Management System procedures and work instructions along with JOB Traveler instructions

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS:

• Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Works well in group problem solving situations.
• MIG and TIG weld steel, stainless steel and various alloy components based upon on the specifications provided.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Mathematical Skills -Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret graphical data.
• Operates material handling equipment, overhead cranes, tow-motor, pallet jacks
• Written Communication – Write clearly and informatively
• Planning/Organizing - Uses time efficiently. Completes work in timely manner
• Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
• Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
• Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction.
• Innovation - Generates suggestions for improving work.
• Lathe and Press experience a plus. Must be able to train.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One-year certificate from a technical school; or twelve to eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, moving mechanical parts, electrical arcs, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay: $21.25 - $25.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 45.0 per week
