Job Description
The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing and managing the plant's master production schedule to ensure alignment between customer demand, production capacity, and supplier material availability. This role combines production scheduling and planning leadership responsibilities to optimize operational efficiency, maintain inventory control, and ensure on-time customer delivery.
The Master Scheduler collaborates closely with operations, materials, logistics, and supply chain teams to translate customer demand signals and forecasts into executable production plans. This role also supervises supplier scheduling activities to support uninterrupted material flow and production continuity.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to support customer demand and plant capacity.
- Convert customer releases and forecasts into executable production schedules.
- Monitor production schedule adherence and adjust schedules as needed to respond to demand fluctuations or operational constraints.
- Maintain accurate scheduling parameters and planning data within the ERP/MRP system.
- Materials & Inventory Coordination
- Align production schedules with material availability and supplier commitments.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure appropriate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
- Support demand planning and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) activities.
- Supervise the Supplier Scheduler responsible for supplier releases and inbound material flow.
- Ensure supplier schedules and forecasts are aligned with production requirements.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and support resolution of supply disruptions.
- Partner with Operations, Quality, Logistics, and Customer Service to ensure production schedules support plant objectives.
- Communicate schedule priorities and updates during daily production meetings.
- Identify opportunities to improve scheduling processes, system accuracy, and supply chain efficiency.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives related to material flow and production planning.
- This role directly supervises the Supplier Scheduler and is responsible for coordinating supplier release activities and ensuring inbound material supply supports the production schedule.

Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in production scheduling, materials planning, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience interpreting customer demand signals or forecasts.
- Experience in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment.
- Experience with EDI customer releases and automotive scheduling requirements.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and inventory management practices.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Operations Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
