Overnight Behavioral Health Technician

Teen Tree
Scottsdale, AZ Full Time
POSTED ON 8/8/2026

Night owls with big hearts — this one's for you.

While the rest of Scottsdale sleeps, someone is keeping watch over a house full of teenagers working through the hardest chapters of their lives. Someone is making sure every kid is safe and sound, being the calm, steady presence for the teen who wakes up at 2 AM and can't shake a heavy thought, and quietly resetting the whole house so tomorrow starts fresh.

We'd like that someone to be you.

Who we are

Teen Tree is a teen residential mental health treatment program in Scottsdale, Arizona, built on a simple belief: your teen's story isn't over. We're small on purpose. We practice whole-person, evidence-based care, we treat teens as partners in their own recovery, and we keep families in the middle of everything — not on the sidelines. Our values aren't wall art. Trust Through Compassion. Responsibility With Integrity. Excellence In Care. Empowering Families. We hire people who actually live them at 3 AM when nobody's watching.

What makes us different

We show up. For the teens, for their families, and — this part matters — for each other. When you call the on-call line in the middle of the night, a real leader answers. When a shift is hard, we debrief it together instead of pretending it wasn't. And because our team is small, what you notice on your shift genuinely shapes a kid's treatment. You will never be "just a tech" here.

What you'll actually do overnight

  • Complete quiet safety and observation rounds all night, on schedule, every time — and document them in real time (we use Kipu; we'll train you)
  • Support the evening wind-down and lights-out routine, and assist with evening medications
  • Be a grounded, compassionate presence for teens who are awake when they'd rather not be
  • Reset the house for the next day: tidying, laundry, sanitizing, and yes — steam-mopping floors at 3 AM like a legend
  • Reset the Quiet Grove, our sensory calming space
  • Prep breakfast and start the morning wake-up routine so teens begin their day cared for
  • Give a thorough handoff so the day team starts safely and nothing falls through the cracks

Real talk: this job is not easy

Overnight behavioral health work is real work. You must stay awake and alert all night — your attentiveness is the safety net. You'll document everything. Some nights a teen will have their hardest moment on your watch, and you'll need to be the calmest person in the building. If you're looking for a night gig where you scroll your phone until sunrise, this isn't it. If you're looking for work where a quiet, well-run night actually changes a kid's life — welcome home.
