The Plumbing Manager is responsible for leading, organizing, and overseeing all plumbing operations within the company. This position manages a team of plumbers and apprentices, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with all relevant codes and regulations. The Plumbing Manager also plays a critical role in client communication, budgeting, scheduling, and departmental performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
Plan and schedule all plumbing installations, service repairs, drain repairs/clearing, and maintenance work.
Allocate manpower, tools, equipment, and materials to meet project timelines.
Monitor project progress, quality, and adherence to budget targets.
Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise plumbers and apprentices.
Foster a positive, safety-driven work environment built around teamwork and accountability.
Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide cost estimates and proposals, and address concerns professionally.
Ensure all plumbing work meets local, state, and federal codes; obtain permits when required.
Manage department operations to improve quality, revenue, reduce call backs, and minimize warranty work.
Oversee plumbing inventory, tools, and material usage to minimize waste and optimize efficiency.
Prepare and manage departmental and project budgets, tracking costs to ensure profitability.
Conduct jobsite safety checks and enforce safety protocols and best practices.
Perform quality control checks on completed work to maintain high standards.
Maintain detailed job records including plans, permits, and invoices.
Generate reports on project status, budget performance, and team productivity.
Create and maintain the on-call and dispatch schedule for the plumbing department.
Lead regular department meetings to communicate expectations, problem-solve, and motivate the team.
What You Must Have
Valid plumbing certification or license.
5 years of experience in a related role.
Experience in both residential and commercial plumbing.
Proven experience with budgeting and financial management.
Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and regulations.
Excellent communication, analytical, leadership, and time-management skills.
Clean driving record.
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
Availability to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis for emergency service needs.
