Company Overview
Ted Brown AVL is a Licensed Washington General Contractor and General Electrical Contractor as well as an Oregon General Contractor and Low Voltage Electrical Contractor and is a division of Ted Brown Music Company that specializes in installations of pro audio gear, video technologies, and theatrical lighting. Ted Brown Music is headquartered in Tacoma and has 6 retail store locations across the state, and the AVL division is based in Richland, WA with a section based in the Tacoma store. We do installations in various types of buildings including school classrooms, theaters, gymnasiums and stadiums, conference rooms and boardrooms, courtrooms, churches, and performing arts venues. Installations include various speaker types, cameras, video displays, wireless systems, controls, rigging structures, and gear racks.
We are looking for a motivated, self-driven 06 or 01 electrician to fill the role needed based out of the Tacoma store location to work with our growing western regional section. Having an interest in the music world is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities
- Work in conjunction with designer/salesman to estimate and build project designs, drawings and proposals
- Perform service calls and troubleshoot systems, and site visits to do client needs assessments and verification of building structures for project proposals
- Manage and lead A/V installs and perform all manner of work involved including wire pulling, wire termination, rack building, rigging and mounting of A/V equipment, testing, commissioning systems
- Coordinate with clients and possible other trades to complete projects
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years as a Licensed Washington 06 or 01 Journeyman. Oregon Low Voltage license a plus
- Driver’s License with clean driving record.
- Ability to think and work independently, capable of working solo or in a team environment. Must have basic construction knowledge with ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and wiring schematics, and familiarity of wiring in new construction and retrofit wiring in old structures.
- Must have good troubleshooting skills, capable of using A/V test equipment and testing point to point wiring. Capable of terminating all types of Low Voltage cables as well as soldering skills.
- Ability to lift 70 lbs, work from ladders, scaffolding, and man lifts, utilize various types of power tools and construction equipment. Scissor lift certification or operator license a plus.
- Capable of safely building structures to support large A/V equipment. Rigging certification, a plus.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft 365. Familiarity with Avixa, Extron/Crestron, Qsys, Symetrics, Tesira, Audio Architect, and any other design programs a plus.
- Professional appearance and workmanship, and ability to communicate well with clients.
- Additional certifications that are a bonus: Avixa CTS-I, Extron AV Associate, OSHA 30, CPR training
