TechTalent Squared has been retained to identify an experienced Technical Project Manager with deep mortgage industry experience, specifically within wholesale mortgage origination environments. This is a 100% remote, long-term contract opportunity supporting a fast-paced, Agile delivery organization.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience leading wholesale mortgage domain projects across loan origination, underwriting, pricing, closing, and funding workflows, and thrives in dynamic, iterative Agile teams. Success in this role requires the ability to manage complex, multi-system initiatives while partnering closely with business and technology stakeholders in a high-volume wholesale channel.
What You’ll Do:
- Plan, manage, track, and deliver wholesale mortgage origination projects from initiation through completion using Agile and hybrid delivery methodologies.
- Lead projects supporting Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and related platforms, including broker portals, pricing engines, underwriting tools, document management, and downstream integrations.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, sprint plans, and delivery schedules using Microsoft Project and Agile tools.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives.
- Partner with business stakeholders to perform requirements gathering, user story development, and backlog prioritization.
- Coordinate and drive User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet wholesale origination and regulatory requirements.
- Identify, assess, and actively manage project risks, dependencies, and delivery constraints in a fast-moving environment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between Wholesale Sales, Operations, Underwriting, Secondary Marketing, Compliance, IT, and external vendors.
- Translate wholesale mortgage business rules and workflows into clear functional and technical requirements.
- Support process improvement and optimization initiatives across origination and fulfillment functions.
- Provide leadership, accountability, and clear communication across cross-functional and distributed teams.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong project management expertise with experience delivering projects in Agile or hybrid Agile environments.
- Demonstrated experience within the wholesale mortgage channel, including third-party origination and broker-driven workflows.
- Strong understanding of loan origination processes, from application through funding.
- Experience managing multi-system, technology-enabled initiatives in high-volume mortgage organizations.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Self-directed with a high level of initiative and accountability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams to ensure accurate implementation of business requirements.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Flexibility to support extended hours based on project needs.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of five years of experience leading technology and business projects within the mortgage industry.
- Direct experience with wholesale mortgage origination projects required.
- Strong experience with Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and related integrations.
- PMI certification preferred.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies.
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
