Job Summary
The Life Sciences Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing complex application modernization projects from initiation to closure within the regulatory health and life sciences industry. The role involves managing multi-threaded application implementations that include teams of application engineers, data architects, subject matter experts and quality assurance personnel. It involves creating resource leveled project schedules that manage parallel work streams to ensure adherence to project milestones, product quality that certify that project execution and completion are completed on-schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
· Project Planning and Execution: Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans & schedule that are fully resource loaded and include the incorporation of tasking, dependencies, parallel work streams with appropriate quality checks to ensure data integrity. Must manage and report on work product, timelines, milestones, budgets, and resource allocation. Manage day-to-day project activities to ensure all deliverables are met.
· Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between the internal project teams, external vendors, and clients. Communicate project status, risks, and changes to all stakeholders to ensure alignment and manage expectations.
· Team Leadership: Direct cross-functional project teams, which may include scientists, regulatory specialists, application engineers, data architects and quality assurance personnel. Assign tasks, track progress, and provide guidance to team members.
· Technical Oversight- With the support of the data and engineering teams, review and approve technical approach options for varying levels of application and data modernization and aid in the selection of ‘best-fit’ technology choices.
· Risk Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues. Develop contingency plans and escalate critical problems to senior leadership as needed.
Required Experience:
- 10 years demonstrated successful track record leading technical projects for large scale application modernization & consolidation efforts within commercial life sciences and/or public health agencies
- 5 years’ experience working in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device marketplace.
- 5 years of hands-on software engineering expertise.
-5 years performing as a technical lead in application modernization, large scale data migration and/or system integration.
- Knowledge and understanding of compliance with stringent regulatory standards such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and FDA guidelines.
Desired, but not required Experience
· Experience with or certification in Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban is highly preferred.
· Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
· Clearance- holding a Level 5 Public Trust
