Mechanical Engineer – Generalist (Furniture & Plastics)

About the Role
We are seeking a versatile Mechanical Engineer (Generalist) to support our portfolio of legacy furniture and plastics products. This role requires someone who can learn quickly, adapt to multiple product lines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will combine technical excellence in SolidWorks with strong communication skills to bridge the gap between engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for existing furniture and plastic product lines, ensuring performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
- Rapidly learn and switch between projects spanning multiple product categories.
- Maintain and update SolidWorks models, drawings, and product documentation.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product development, quality engineering and project management
- Translate complex engineering concepts into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Prepare and deliver presentations for stakeholders at multiple corporate leadership levels.
- Drive problem-solving efforts to resolve design, manufacturing, or field issues with legacy products.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience (furniture, plastics, or consumer products preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (part modeling, assemblies, drawings, configurations).
- Strong skills in Microsoft PowerPoint and experience presenting to leadership teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to advise non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Experience with plastics, furniture design, or legacy product support is highly desirable.
