What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Tester position at TECHNOMILE LLC?
Senior QA Tester
Location: Hybrid | Remote Options
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer with strong automation expertise to design, build, and execute both manual and automated test strategies, with a focus on modern, scalable automation practices. This role goes beyond test execution—you will serve as a hands-on technical leader in automation, helping define how automation is built, structured, and scaled across the team.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality software delivery while driving improvements in automation frameworks, CI/CD integration, and overall quality engineering practices. This is a hands-on role - you will be writing Playwright scripts daily while serving as the technical anchor others turn to for direction and code review.
What you’ll do
- Translate functional requirements and specifications into robust test plans, cases, and automation scripts
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks (Playwright preferred) for web and API testing
- Write and execute high-quality automated test scripts daily, while continuing manual testing where needed to inform automation strategy
- Establish and follow automation standards including project structure, reusable components, and test data management
- Perform manual functional and exploratory testing to identify gaps and improve automation coverage
- Develop and maintain test data, tools, and scripts to support both manual and automated testing
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar) with quality gates and reporting
- Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product teams to ensure testability early in the SDLC
- Conduct API testing (REST/GraphQL) using tools like Postman/Newman and contribute to API contract validation practices
- Track defects, analyze results, and provide actionable insights through test reporting dashboards (e.g., Azure DevOps, Power BI)
- Support migration from legacy automation tools (e.g., Selenium) to modern frameworks like Playwright
- Partner with cross-functional teams (onshore/offshore) to ensure quality deliverables and provide ad hoc data support
- Continuously improve automation practices by exploring emerging tools, AI-assisted QA approaches, and modern SDLC strategies
- Mentor and guide team members through code reviews, pairing, and best practices in automation development
Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in QA testing, with strong emphasis on automation engineering
- Demonstrate experience designing automation frameworks from the ground up, not inheriting existing ones.
- Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, or similar)
- Strong experience in automation script design, maintenance, and scalable test architecture
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript (preferred), with focus on writing maintainable, well-structured test code
- Experience testing web applications and backend services (APIs)
- Solid understanding of QA processes, STLC, and SDLC
- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.)
- Knowledge of test design patterns (e.g., Page Object Model), test data strategies, and reusable frameworks
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., QC, Rally, TestRail)
- Ability to perform end-to-end validation from inception to production
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work under tight schedules in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with API contract testing using Postman/Newman
- Exposure to AI-assisted QA tools or AI/ML product testing
- Experience with React Testing Library or component-level testing
- Experience in GovCon, federal, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps for pipelines, work tracking, and reporting
- Experience with test framework migration or QA transformation initiatives
