Position: Network Specialist
Supervisor: Network Administrator
General Job Description: To assist in work required in the design and implementation of the district network infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.
- Comply with all school board policies and regulations.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior.
- Maintain behavior appropriate to performing and accomplishing assigned duties.
- Know what to do to successfully complete assigned work.
- Project an overall concern for personal appearance as it relates to job performance.
- Carry out assignments and instruction from supervisor(s) in a competent and efficient manner.
- Perform assignments in such a manner as to not interrupt the classroom learning environment.
- Work in a safe manner with personal safety and the safety of others as the number one priority.
- Assist in staff development in technology.
- Assist in installation and maintenance of computer labs.
- Assist in installation and district adopted software.
- Assist in meeting the goals of the district’s Technology Plan.
- Install and maintain equipment related to the job.
- Contact vendors for information.
- Repair equipment that may not be covered by another service agreement.
- Serve as site liaison for technology assistance.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Transport hardware to work sites as necessary.
- Maintain assigned uniforms, equipment, tools, and work area in operable, safe and attractive status.
- Account for supplies, materials, and equipment as required.
- Complete work orders and reports as required in a timely manner.
- Perform other tasks deemed appropriate or necessary by the immediate supervisor, principal, and/or superintendent.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Good driving record, with appropriate license.
- Bachelor degree in related field preferred but equivalent technology training and/or experience may be accepted.
- Appropriate certifications.
- Must be able to pass employment verification.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of computer workstation and peripheral setup and installation.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of computer, serer and network hardware and software applications.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge of multiple operating systems.
- Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals including printers, scanners, network cable drops, and audio/visual equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and configure network switches, ability to diagnose hardware and software problems and perform repairs.
- Ability to diagnose various operating systems utilized by the District.
- Self-motivated and directed. Ability to organize and coordinate project teams.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, lifting, and carrying (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs, reaching, squatting, kneeling, fingering or otherwise working with fingers, and moving light furniture may be required.
Equipment/Material Handled:
Must know how to properly operate, or be willing to learn to operate, all multimedia equipment including current technology.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. Must be able to work under stressful conditions.
