What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Development & Strategic Partnerships position at Technology for Families In Need?
TechFIN is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Director of Development to lead the organization through its next phase of growth. Reporting directly to the board, you will play a pivotal role in building the foundation for our long-term sustainability goal. You will drive efforts to diversify revenue streams, cultivate partnerships, secure critical in-kind technology donations, and strengthen the organization’s external presence. This is a high-impact opportunity for a strategic leader who is motivated by creating meaningful change for families in need.
- Fundraising Strategy: Take direct ownership of helping the organization achieve its total financial goals for the year by designing and executing a comprehensive annual plan—including corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, individual giving, and seasonal campaigns—to raise an estimated $200,000 in net-new revenue.
- Grant Management: Directly reapply for all reoccurring grants. Cultivate relationships with current grant funders. Meet regularly with grant-writing consultants to ensure all end-to-end processes required of consultants are completed, including research of new opportunities, writing, and successful submission of grant applications (two per grant writer, per month).
- Campaign Leadership: Lead signature initiatives such as Giving Tuesday, end-of-year appeals, and co-sponsored deployment events. Oversee campaign planning, KPI setting, sponsor/volunteer coordination, and post-campaign reporting.
- Donor Stewardship: Maintain the donor database (Salesforce/Constant Contact/Kindsight), ensuring timely acknowledgments and high-touch relationship management. Use data and metrics to increase existing donor engagement. Grow the donor database, with a focus on major donors.
- Supply Chain Growth: Actively prospect and secure new corporate hardware donors to ensure a steady pipeline of laptops and desktops.
- Partnership Cultivation: Build long-term "win-win" relationships with CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) departments and IT asset managers.
- Public Representation: Represent TechFIN at networking events, corporate presentations, and media engagements.
- Digital Marketing: Lend a voice and perspective to TechFIN’s digital communications and social media presence.
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of professional fundraising or development experience in the nonprofit sector or similar experience.
- Track Record: Proven success in securing five-figure corporate sponsorships or foundation grants.
- Tech Savvy: Preferred proficiency with Salesforce (or similar CRM), and Constant Contact. A comfort level with discussing technology/hardware is also a plus.
- Communication: Exceptional writing skills with the ability to pivot between a formal grant proposal and an engaging Instagram caption.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Communications, Nonprofit Management, etc.).
