About The Role
Techno is looking for a detail-oriented Inspector with deep experience in tunnel or railroad construction to support a major rail infrastructure initiative in Baltimore. This long-term project plays a key role in upgrading one of the busiest and most vital transportation corridors on the East Coast. If you have a strong foundation in underground structures, rail systems, and heavy civil works, this role offers an opportunity to directly contribute to a transformative improvement in regional mobility.
In this position, you’ll serve as a critical presence in the field—overseeing tunnel and rail construction activities, verifying compliance with design requirements, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational readiness.

In this position, you’ll serve as a critical presence in the field—overseeing tunnel and rail construction activities, verifying compliance with design requirements, monitoring contractor performance, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational readiness.
What You'll Do
- Inspect tunnel and rail construction activities including track installation, structural components, excavation, support systems, waterproofing, ventilation, and related civil works
- Verify compliance with project specifications, drawings, safety protocols, and railroad standards
- Monitor construction sequencing, field operations, and tunnel-specific work methods
- Document daily progress, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate with tunnel engineers, track specialists, contractors, and field inspection staff
- Maintain detailed field reports and support project documentation requirements
- Conduct materials inspections, quality checks, and ensure proper installation of rail and tunnel systems
- Participate in regular progress meetings and provide clear, field-informed updates
- 5 years of experience in construction inspection with a strong emphasis on tunnel or rail infrastructure
- Solid understanding of tunnel excavation methods, temporary supports, structural concrete, rail systems, and heavy civil construction practices
- Familiarity with railroad terminology, track components, signal systems, tunnel systems, and construction documentation
- Proven experience working on major rail, tunnel, or large-scale civil infrastructure projects
- Amtrak or freight/passenger rail experience is highly desirable
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in both field and collaborative team environments
- OSHA 10/30 or relevant tunnel/rail safety certifications
