About the role
Techno is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to provide construction management and inspection services for projects involving mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and fire alarm systems. The role includes reviewing plans and specifications, performing on-site inspections, and ensuring all work complies with project requirements and applicable codes. This position is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
What you'll do
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with contract staff, the Resident Engineer, and facility personnel in person and via two-way communications.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications accurately.
- Prepare contract administration documentation, including daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and documentation of unit price work.
- Identify potential extra work issues and keep the Resident Engineer informed.
- Prepare estimates, sketches, and supporting documentation for extra work.
- Review plans for constructability and provide comments.
- Review contractor payment requests and advise the Resident Engineer on their reasonableness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5-years’ experience inspecting HVAC construction work, fire alarm systems varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
- Valid Driver's License required.
- Ability to obtain a high SWAC clearance or SIDA at Airports or TWIC at Ports.
- Night and weekend shifts are required.
- Trained in fall protection, trench excavation, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 30-hr OSHA construction safety training.
- Any associated Electrical or Mechanical Certifications.

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $25.93 - $57.38 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
