SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Injection Molding Manager is responsible for leading all injection molding operations within an automotive manufacturing environment. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality production through effective people leadership, process optimization, tooling management, and adherence to automotive quality standards. The manager drives continuous improvement, cost control, and on-time delivery while developing a strong technical and supervisory team.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Lead day-to-day injection molding operation to meet production schedules, cost targets, and customer requirements.
- Ensure optimal machine utilization, cycle time performance, and scrap reduction.
- Oversee setup, startup, changeovers, and troubleshooting of injection molding processes.
- Coordinate with Production Planning, Maintenance, Tooling, and Quality to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Ensure compliance with automotive quality standers such as IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer- specific requirements.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, A3, 5-Why) for quality issues, scrap, and downtime.
- Support PPAP, APQP, and launch activities for new programs and engineering changes.
- Maintain adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage molds, hot runners, auxiliary equipment, and tooling maintenance programs.
- Partner with Engineering on process development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support new mold trials, sampling, and production readiness.
- Establish and maintain robust process documentation, including work instructions and process parameters.
- Directly lead, supervisors, technician and operators within the injection molding department
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop team members to build technical capability and bench strength.
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage labor, maintenance, tooling, and consumables.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities related to materials, labor efficiency, energy usage, and scrap.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Track and report KPIs such as OEE, scrap, downtime, labor efficiency, and safety metrics.
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):
- Hands-on experience with thermoplastics, multi-cavity molds, hot runner systems, and automation.
- Proven experience supporting new product launches and high-volume production environments.
- Knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, tooling, and auxiliary equipment.
- Familiarity with scientific molding principles and process optimization.
- Experience with preventive maintenance systems and mold lifecycle management.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and production reporting tools.
- Strong people leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Results-driven mindset with a continuous improvement orientation.

- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and industrial equipment.
