Technical Source is seeking a Construction Manager to support mission-critical data center and fiber infrastructure projects for one of our telecommunications clients. In this role, you will serve as the on-site leader responsible for overseeing daily construction operations, managing installation crews, and ensuring safe, high-quality, and schedule-driven execution of fiber deployment activities.
This position is ideal for a senior-level construction leader or site supervisor with strong fiber installation experience who can lead teams, coordinate across multiple trades, and drive project delivery in high-demand environments.
Job Functions
Lead daily site operations for fiber installation, including supervision of installers, splicers, testers, and patching technicians
Ensure job site readiness, organization, and safety compliance prior to each shift
Coordinate and oversee all aspects of fiber installation, including cable pulling, routing, containment, dressing, splicing, testing, and patching
Align daily work execution with project schedules, priorities, and deliverables
Ensure technicians are working from accurate documentation including splice maps, OTDR paths, and patching diagrams
Adjust crew assignments and workflow to maintain productivity and meet schedule milestones
Enforce Environmental, Health & Safety policies including PPE compliance, ladder/lift safety, laser safety, and fiber disposal procedures
Conduct daily toolbox talks and verify completion of JSAs and PTPs
Stop unsafe work immediately and escalate hazards to Safety leadership
Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to field crews, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to standards
Train technicians on proper fiber handling, installation techniques, and tool usage
Maintain a professional, team-oriented job site environment
Maintain daily reporting including work completed, remaining tasks, crew counts, and site conditions
Provide regular progress updates to Project Managers, Delivery Leads, and cross-functional teams
Ensure accurate as-built documentation, splice logs, and testing results are completed and submitted
Track and manage punch list items through project closeout
Troubleshoot field issues such as routing conflicts, installation obstructions, and testing anomalies
Resolve labeling errors, documentation discrepancies, and readiness challenges
Escalate unresolved issues to Project Management, Engineering, Quality, or Safety teams as needed
Coordinate daily with Project Managers, Delivery Leads, Quality Control, Safety, and client stakeholders
Participate in site walks, coordination meetings, and schedule reviews
Ensure alignment with other trades including electrical, mechanical, security, and IT teams
Qualifications
Education & ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in fiber optic installation, construction, or data center environments
Previous experience in a leadership role such as Foreman, Lead Technician, or Construction Supervisor
Strong understanding of fiber installation processes including splicing, testing, and documentation
Experience working in mission-critical or data center environments preferred
Ability to pass pre-employment screening
Valid driver’s license
Technical & Professional SkillsStrong knowledge of fiber optic infrastructure, installation standards, and testing procedures
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, splice maps, and technical documentation
Experience coordinating multiple crews and subcontractors on active job sites
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities in field environments
Ability to lead teams in fast-paced, high-pressure project environments
Excellent communication and coordination skills across cross-functional teams
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and reporting tools
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Physical & Working ConditionsAbility to walk, stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights using lifts and proper fall protection
Ability to work in active construction and data center environments
Exposure to noise, dust, and varying site conditions
Ability to travel as required by project needs
