What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Engineer position at Technical-Link N. America?
Job Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Test Hardware Development team. In this role, you will design, analyze, and validate mechanical structures that support high-performance electronic test systems, including circuit boards, stiffening frames, and miscellaneous support brackets. The ideal candidate has experience with board-level mechanical standard and structural reinforcement methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and development of mechanical components such as stiffening frames, board-level mechanical structures and brackets in sheet metal and simple flat machined stock.
- Apply PCB board mechanical standards to ensure structural integrity, and manufacturability of board assemblies.
- Collaborate with electrical and test engineering teams to define mechanical constraints, mounting patterns, stack-ups, and interface requirements for Advantest test systems.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using industry-standard tools (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to review manufacturability, tolerances, materials, and production processes.
- Support prototype builds and mechanical validation testing, ensuring alignment with Advantest platform mechanical standards.
- Participate in design reviews, ensuring compliance with Advantest quality, reliability, and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience with mechanical design for PCB assemblies, including board stiffening methods and load-bearing structures.
- Proficiency with stiffening frame and bracket design, including tolerances, material selection, and assembly constraints.
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar).
- Understanding of DFM/DFA, manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, plating, anodizing), and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to interpret electrical board layouts and integrate mechanical requirements.
- Strong problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting ATE systems
- Knowledge of high-density PCB mechanics,
- Familiarity with FEA tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation).
- Experience working with semiconductor customers or test interface hardware suppliers.
