Job Description:
Seeking a Medical Technologist to perform a wide range of laboratory testing on patient specimens to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. This role involves working across multiple laboratory disciplines while ensuring adherence to established quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities include conducting complex testing procedures, analyzing and verifying results, maintaining laboratory instruments, and following quality control protocols. The technologist will also be responsible for documenting findings, troubleshooting testing issues, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory testing in areas such as chemistry, hematology, microbiology, urinalysis, and blood bank
- Operate and maintain automated and manual laboratory equipment
- Conduct quality control and proficiency testing in accordance with established guidelines
- Evaluate and verify test results, ensuring accuracy and reliability
- Perform blood bank procedures including crossmatching and antibody identification
- Carry out microbiology testing including plating, staining, and PCR procedures
- Identify and resolve issues related to specimen collection, processing, and testing
- Ensure proper patient identification and specimen handling protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation and safeguard patient information
Schedule:
Full-time schedule with 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week. Multiple shift options available including day, evening, and night shifts. Weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required. No on-call responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field
- Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program
- OR equivalent combination of education and clinical training in medical technology
- Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) through ASCP, AMT, or equivalent
- Ability to perform high-complexity testing independently
- Strong understanding of laboratory safety and quality standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary clinical laboratory
- Certification in a specialized area (chemistry, hematology, microbiology, molecular biology, or blood bank)
- Familiarity with automated laboratory instrumentation and troubleshooting
