Work Environment
This position involves supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in residential and community settings. Some individuals may exhibit challenging behaviors. Comprehensive OPWDD-approved training and ongoing support are provided.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct care and support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care and self-help skills.
Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Residential Habilitation Plans.
Encourage community participation, recreational activities, and social engagement.
Administer medications and complete related documentation as required.
Monitor and document individuals' progress, behaviors, and daily activities.
Maintain accurate records and house logs.
Assist with meal preparation and household responsibilities.
Promote a safe, clean, and welcoming residential environment.
Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
Report incidents in accordance with OPWDD regulations and agency policies.
Support individuals who may use wheelchairs, walkers, or Hoyer lifts.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Ability to work with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer and documentation skills
Ability to lift and transfer up to 25 pounds
Ability to complete mandatory trainings and certifications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD)
Direct Support Professional (DSP) experience
OPWDD experience
AMAP Certification
SCIP Certification
CPR/First Aid Certification
Residential, Human Services, Behavioral Health, CNA, HHA, Caregiver, or Social Services experience
