Job Summary

The Raleigh County Commission is seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Consultant with strong knowledge of government or public-sector IT environments. The consultant will support county-wide technology modernization, cybersecurity risk reduction, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, secure, and support enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, firewalls, networks, and security systems.
• Perform patch management, system monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and remediation.
• Develop a multi-year IT strategic plan aligned with county priorities and tech modernization goals.
• Conduct interviews with department heads and staff to determine needs, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
• Lead cybersecurity risk assessments and strengthen disaster recovery (DR), business continuity (BCP), and incident response procedures.
• Provide guidance on ERP implementation and other enterprise application deployments.

Required Skills

• 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, or IT consulting.
• Strong background supporting government, county, or public-sector environments.
• Hands-on expertise in network security, firewall administration, patching, backups, and risk mitigation.
• Experience preparing DR/BCP, performing vulnerability scans, and managing remediation.
• Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as Security , CEH, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
• Experience developing IT roadmaps and advising leadership on technology strategy.
