What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at TechCentric, Inc.?
About the Role
TechCentric is a managed service provider based in Providence, RI. We support small and mid-size businesses across the Northeast, managing their technology environments so they can focus on running their business.
We are looking for a Field Service Technician who is good with their hands and thinks on their feet. A lot of this job is physical, mounting and racking equipment, standing up network gear, and leaving behind a clean, professional install you would be proud to put your name on. The rest is the range of things that come with supporting clients onsite, deploying workstations, troubleshooting hardware, and solving whatever the day puts in front of you. No two sites are the same, so you need to be the kind of person who can walk in, size up the situation, and figure out the right move.
This is a client-facing, hands-on role. You are the face of TechCentric in the field, so professionalism and communication matter as much as technical skill. We trust our field techs to run their onsite work and make good calls in the moment. We also believe there is no shame in asking for help. Reaching out when you hit something tricky is how a good team works, not a mark against you.
What You Will Do
- Travel to client sites across the Providence area and greater Northeast
- Mount and rack equipment including switches, UPS units, and servers
- Configure and deploy wireless access points and network gear
- Install, configure, and deploy desktops, laptops, and workstation hardware
- Perform break-fix support requiring hands-on resolution onsite
- Run project work including hardware refreshes and equipment deployments

- Comfortable mounting and racking hardware and standing up network equipment
- Experience in a field or MSP IT environment, you know the pace of supporting different clients
- Solid networking and IT fundamentals, Windows, IP addressing, switching, Wi-Fi
- Self-directed and resourceful, but not afraid to ask for help when you need it
- Professional and well-spoken, you are client-facing every day
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle required
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and do physical install work, including ladders and tight spaces
- CompTIA A , Network , or Microsoft certifications are a plus, not required

- Low voltage license or certification
- Prior structured cabling and termination experience
