Shift Hours: 7:00P - 7:30AM (3x12 4th shift required per month EOW)
Schedule Notes: 7:00P - 7:30A ( EOW 4th shift per month) MUST HAVE 2 YRS OF NICU EXP IN A HOSPITAL SETTING MUST HAVE OSTOMY/BUBBLE PAP EXP MUST HAVE LEVEL 3 & 4 EXP MUST HAVE BSN
Skills: NYS RN License BLS, NRP, 2 years of neonatal ICU, mech vent mgmt exp Minimum 2 years RN experience 1 year travel experience for Travel positions, not required for Per Diem positions EPIC experience highly pref Avg Unit Census = 45 46 Beds per Unit Staff Guidelines = 1:1-3 Schedule 3x12, 3 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
Education: Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing preferred. Associate degree in nursing is considered only with relevant experience and/or active matriculation in a BSN Program Required: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care nursing, with experience in caring for premature and critically ill newborns. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and supporting families during challenging times.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates in the NICU, including monitoring vital signs and administering medications.
- Perform assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Utilize advanced medical technologies and equipment, including ventilators and IV infusion systems.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies.
- Educate families about their infant's condition, treatment options, and care procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to NCQA standards.
- Support the training of new staff members and assist in clinical education programs.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Previous experience in a Level II or Level I Trauma Center or NICU setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care protocols.
- Experience with procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, suturing, and airway management.
- Familiarity with pediatric care practices including triage, acute pain management, and medication administration.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Candidates with additional skills such as experience in hospice & palliative medicine, behavioral health, geriatrics, or home & community care will be considered an asset. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in patient-centered care.
