Senior Project Engineer

Position Summary

• Provide staff augmentation support to engineering projects.
• Integrate and manage engineering activities for assigned projects by assisting with design criteria, resource forecasts, schedules, and priorities.
• Provide project management tools and methods to assigned projects and support the development of future projects.
• Manage project tasks and deliver results within established cost and schedule requirements.
• Perform engineering services using established processes and procedures.
• Receive programmatic guidance from project management.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE).

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in any state is strongly preferred.
• Provide overall engineering and design direction, leadership, and management for assigned projects and tasks.
• Integrate engineering resources for assigned projects by assisting in establishing design criteria, resource forecasts, schedules, and engineering tools for engineering tasks.
• Provide administrative guidance to engineering leads and managers.
• Manage the overall administration, scheduling, and priorities of assigned tasks and projects.
• Manage administration, document control, project controls, and quality engineering activities for assigned projects through section supervisors.
• Resolve conflicts between project direction and technical direction from functional managers.
• Participate in department and site-wide programmatic issue resolution and quality improvement activities.
• Build project teams by requesting, evaluating, and developing engineering expertise capable of achieving assigned project objectives.
• Evaluate subcontractor tasks to ensure design output meets project technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
• Establish baselines for design activities for assigned projects and engineering work requests.
• Recommend subcontractor authorizations for new work and changes to established baselines to project managers.
• Evaluate project cost and schedule variances and implement corrective actions.
• Experience with EVMS tools.
• Review cost accounts for procurement of engineered materials.
• Work with diverse teams to deliver results.
• Establish project scope of work, including ensuring that firm customer requirements are developed.

Additional Work Requirements

• Perform field walk-downs of job sites for engineering work being performed.
• Field walk-downs may involve:
• Construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress.
• Walking distances exceeding one-half mile.
• Climbing ladders to access remote areas.
• Wearing protective clothing.
• Working in environments where a respirator is required.
• Produce quality documents with attention to detail and in accordance with management-defined expectations.
• Coordinate, interface, and communicate with management, engineering, facility, operations, quality assurance, and test personnel.
• Communicate clear, concise, and accurate reports, evaluations, documents, procedures, reviews, comment resolutions, emails, and oral presentations.
• Mentor junior team members and develop their design knowledge.
