Position:
- As a Business Development Lead on the Transaction Team, you will lead outbound origination efforts to uncover acquisition opportunities, build a high-quality deal pipeline, and guide promising businesses through the early stages of our transaction process. You’ll blend proactive sales outreach with strong financial acumen, relationship-building skills, and a deep commitment to our mission
- Own outbound sourcing from end to end: Prospect, qualify, and engage small and medium-sized business owners, brokers, and industry intermediaries to generate accretive acquisition opportunities
- Create, nurture, and convert relationships with investment bankers, business brokers, advisors, and other referral partners to expand deal flow
- Conduct targeted industry and market research to identify priority segments and inform outreach strategy, pricing recommendations, and pipeline focus areas
- Manage the early transaction lifecycle, including reviewing preliminary financial and operational information to assess alignment with our investment thesis; summarize findings and present recommendations with clear rationale
- Develop and manage transaction materials, including newsletters, memos and conference materials
- 3–5 years of business development, outbound sales, origination, or pipeline-building experience—preferably with exposure to private equity, venture capital, investment banking, or similar environments
- A mission-driven motivation to advance employee ownership and support small business success
- Entrepreneurial, self-directed approach with comfort operating in a high-velocity, evolving environment
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, marketing, communications, or a related field
- A proactive prospector who enjoys building relationships, generating momentum, and opening doors through thoughtful outreach
- An exceptional communicator—clear, concise, and confident across email, phone, video, and live conversations
- Highly organized with strong analytical abilities and attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and effective at building compelling, data-driven presentations
- A self-starter who embraces ownership, drives workstreams independently, and delivers consistently high-quality results
