Position Overview
The Basketball Trainer is responsible for designing and delivering high-energy, fundamentals-focused training sessions for youth athletes of all ages and skill levels. Trainers will model the values of growth, discipline, teamwork, and leadership, helping athletes build confidence, basketball IQ, and life skills through the game.
Key Responsibilities
- Skill Development: Lead small-group and individual sessions focusing on ball handling, shooting mechanics, footwork, defensive principles, and game IQ.
- Holistic Coaching: Integrate mental toughness, communication, and leadership activities into on-court training.
- Player Assessments: Evaluate athletes using Team Unleashed’s Hoopster IQ and development tracking system, providing clear feedback and growth plans.
- Game Preparation: Organize drills that translate to in-game performance, ensuring players understand both the “how” and the “why” of each skill.
- Mentorship: Serve as a positive role model, fostering character, academic accountability, and respect for teammates and opponents.
- Community Engagement: Represent Team Unleashed at camps, clinics, community events, and school partnerships to grow brand awareness and athlete enrollment.
Qualifications
- Basketball Experience: Prior playing or coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level.
- Coaching Skills: Strong understanding of player development, youth training methods, and modern basketball strategies.
- Leadership: Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and inspire athletes.
- Certifications: USA Basketball Coaches certification (optional).
- Character: Demonstrated integrity, passion for youth development, and alignment with Team Unleashed’s mission of holistic athlete growth.
