Position Overview

TEAM Service Corporation is seeking an experienced Expert Electric Motor Winder capable of independently performing complete random-wound and form-coil rewinds on industrial AC and DC motors.

This is a senior, hands-on position for a skilled professional who can manage the entire rewind process—from documenting winding data and diagnosing failures through coil installation, testing, varnishing and final quality verification. The successful candidate will also help train and develop junior winders.

Responsibilities

• Independently complete random-wound and form-coil motor rewinds.
• Rewind low- and medium-voltage AC motors.
• Rewind DC armatures, fields and related components.
• Accurately collect, document, calculate and verify winding data before stripping.
• Develop winding layouts and determine coil dimensions, turns, wire sizes, connections and insulation requirements.
• Manufacture, form, insert, brace, tie and connect coils.
• Strip windings without damaging stator laminations or motor cores.
• Perform surge-comparison, Hi-Pot, Megger, resistance and phase-balance testing.
• Operate burnout ovens and monitor temperature-controlled stripping processes.
• Perform and interpret core-loss testing before and after burnout.
• Complete varnish, dip-and-bake and related insulation processes.
• Diagnose winding failures and identify possible electrical, mechanical, thermal or operational causes.
• Inspect stators, rotors, armatures, commutators and related components for damage.
• Verify completed rewinds for correct connections, phase balance, polarity and rotation.
• Maintain accurate inspection, winding and testing documentation.
• Follow applicable EASA repair practices and company quality procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Train, mentor and provide technical direction to junior winders and apprentices.
• Assist with troubleshooting unusual or technically challenging winding projects.

Required Qualifications

• At least 8–10 years of professional electric motor-winding experience.
• Demonstrated ability to complete random-wound and form-coil rewinds without direct supervision.
• Experience with low- and medium-voltage industrial AC motors.
• Hands-on AC and DC armature-winding experience.
• Advanced ability to take, calculate and verify winding data.
• Experience with coil design, manufacturing, forming, insertion, bracing, tying and connection.
• Working knowledge of surge, Hi-Pot, Megger and resistance testing.
• Experience operating burnout ovens and performing core-loss testing.
• Knowledge of varnish, impregnation and bake processes.
• Ability to diagnose winding failures and recommend corrective action.
• Familiarity with EASA repair standards and recommended practices.
• Ability to read winding diagrams, schematics, technical documents and shop instructions.
• Ability to use winding machines, testing equipment, hand tools, power tools and material-handling equipment safely.
• Ability to train and mentor less-experienced employees.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with synchronous rotors, wound rotors, brake coils, field coils or specialty windings.
• Experience with medium-voltage form-coil motors.
• EASA training, apprenticeship completion or related technical certification.
• Experience working in an industrial electric-motor and pump-repair facility.
• Previous lead-winder, senior-winder or winding-supervisor experience.

Compensation

Competitive compensation based on the candidate’s winding experience, technical capabilities and demonstrated ability to perform complete rewinds independently.
