This role ensures smooth release cycles, adherence to change management processes, and continuous improvement of deployment practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesRelease Management- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute software releases across environments (Dev, QA, Staging, UAT, Production).
- Maintain and enforce the release calendar, including release windows, freeze periods, and emergency deployments.
- Conduct Release Readiness Reviews (RRR), go/no-go checkpoints, and post-release validations.
- Orchestrate cross-team dependencies and sequence deployments to minimize risk and downtime.
- Create and maintain release runbooks, deployment checklists, and rollback procedures.
- Track and report release metrics such as:
- Deployment frequency
- Lead time
- Change failure rate
- Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR)
- Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives and root cause analysis.
- Create, manage, and drive Change Requests (CRs) through the full ServiceNow lifecycle (submission → CAB approval → implementation → review).
- Classify changes accurately as Standard, Normal, or Emergency.
- Prepare detailed change documentation including:
- Business justification
- Risk assessment
- Implementation and backout plans
- Test evidence
- Represent releases in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings and address risk concerns.
- Configure and maintain ServiceNow Change Management workflows, templates, and automation.
- Ensure all production changes are documented, traceable, and compliant with ITIL and audit standards.
- Build dashboards and reports for:
- Change success rates
- Approval cycle times
- Compliance metrics
- Integrate ServiceNow with CI/CD pipelines for automated change lifecycle management.
- Support production environments and incident handling.
- Collaborate across application, infrastructure, and operations teams.
- Participate in disaster recovery (DR) exercises.
- Ensure adherence to release and change governance standards.
- 6 years of overall IT experience with 2 years in Release/Change Management.
- Strong experience with ServiceNow Change Management.
- Experience managing releases across multiple environments.
- Knowledge of IT layers:
- Application servers
- Web servers
- Databases
- Networking
- Experience in CI/CD and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and compliance requirements.
- Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills.
- Experience with production support across diverse technologies.
- Exposure to disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Automation and scripting experience for deployment processes.
