East Union Community School District is seeking a passionate and dynamic Secondary Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire students in grades 7-12 to explore the wonders of science and develop critical thinking skills. While a focus in Chemistry and Physics is preferred, highly qualified candidates in Physical Science or other secondary science disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with state standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student curiosity and learning.
- Develop and implement laboratory experiments and hands-on activities to reinforce theoretical concepts.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of methods, providing timely feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences and contribute to curriculum development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current in science education best practices.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and classroom activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Physical Science, or related field; Chemistry or Physics emphasis preferred.
- Valid Iowa teaching licensure or eligibility for licensure in Secondary Science.
- Strong knowledge of secondary science content and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential.
Preferred Qualifications (but not required):
- Chemistry and/or Physics at the secondary level.
