Job Summary:
The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and school-related activities. This role ensures student safety, maintains proper conduct on the bus, and follows all traffic laws and district policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a school bus safely along assigned routes and schedules.
Pick up and drop off students at designated stops.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and proper functioning.
Maintain order and discipline on the bus; report any issues to appropriate school officials.
Follow all traffic laws, state and local regulations, and district policies related to school bus operation.
Keep accurate records of routes, student counts, and any incidents.
Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and school staff.
Ensure the bus is clean and well-maintained.
Assist students when necessary, including helping young or special-needs students board and exit the bus safely.
Participate in required training and safety meetings.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
Clean driving record.
Ability to pass a background check, physical exam, and drug screening as required.
Experience working with children preferred.
Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
Working Conditions:
Early morning and afternoon hours with split shifts.
Exposure to varying weather conditions.
May require sitting for extended periods and assisting with student mobility devices.
