Route/Activity Bus Drivers

Job Summary:

The School Bus Driver is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school and school-related activities. This role ensures student safety, maintains proper conduct on the bus, and follows all traffic laws and district policies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate a school bus safely along assigned routes and schedules.

• Pick up and drop off students at designated stops.

• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and proper functioning.

• Maintain order and discipline on the bus; report any issues to appropriate school officials.

• Follow all traffic laws, state and local regulations, and district policies related to school bus operation.

• Keep accurate records of routes, student counts, and any incidents.

• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and school staff.

• Ensure the bus is clean and well-maintained.

• Assist students when necessary, including helping young or special-needs students board and exit the bus safely.

• Participate in required training and safety meetings.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.

• Clean driving record.

• Ability to pass a background check, physical exam, and drug screening as required.

• Experience working with children preferred.

• Reliable, punctual, and responsible.

Working Conditions:

• Early morning and afternoon hours with split shifts.

• Exposure to varying weather conditions.

• May require sitting for extended periods and assisting with student mobility devices.
