North Scott is looking to hire a Reading Aide (4 hrs./day) at Alan Shepard Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and empathy when working with students who are struggling with literacy skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of literacy instruction strategies and best practices.
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist classroom teachers in improving student literacy outcomes by working with individual students and small groups.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist teachers in implementing literacy instruction strategies.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need additional help with reading and writing skills.
- Utilize literacy intervention programs and resources to support struggling readers.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for students.
- Assist in the creation of literacy materials and resources.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop literacy initiatives and activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized literacy resource area.
- Attend training sessions and professional development opportunities related to literacy instruction.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten month year. Salary established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated per contract language.
