Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned to Iowa Core Standards for both elementary and secondary students
- Teach a variety of units including fitness, team sports, individual activities, and lifetime wellness skills
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners across grade levels
Student Engagement & Environment
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages participation and personal growth
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among students
- Adapt activities to ensure all students can participate meaningfully
Assessment & Communication
- Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with elementary and high school staff to support student success
- Participate in professional learning communities and district initiatives
- Coordinate with administration on scheduling, facilities, and programming across buildings
Additional Duties
- Supervise students in locker rooms, gymnasiums, and other assigned areas
- Assist with school-wide events and activities as needed
