The Spirit Lake Community School District is seeking a compassionate part-time school nurse to join our team. The current position serves the middle and high school. The exact job responsibilities and schedule will be determined based on the candidate’s skills and qualifications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for promoting the health and wellness of students, providing first aid, managing chronic conditions, and supporting a safe school environment. The position requires organization, good communication skills, and the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to students for injuries and acute illness.
- Administer medications and perform health procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns.
- Collaborate with staff on health-related issues and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and manage immunization compliance per state regulations.
- Promote a healthy school environment through education and preventative care.
Qualifications:
- Iowa nursing licensure required
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Previous experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
