Job Title: MS/HS Spanish Teacher

Reports to: MS/HS Principal

Essential Responsibilities: Lone Tree Community School District is seeking a Spanish Teacher for the school year. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a valid Iowa teaching license with a 5-12 Spanish teaching endorsement.

• Teach Spanish 1 through 4 with the use of Cengage's Exploremos Curriculum and an 8th-grade exploratory Spanish class.
• Use a variety of teaching methods/techniques to ensure a productive learning environment for all students.
• Select and request instructional aids/materials as needed to maintain an up-to-date learning environment.
• Maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
• Assess students' academic growth and keep appropriate records. Prepare progress reports as assigned.
• Communicate with parents and school counselors to discuss students' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements as needed and at Parent/Teacher Conferences.
• Maintain professional competence through district-provided professional development activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Maintain a professional rapport with students, staff, parents, and the community.
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
• Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
• Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
• Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date online gradebook.
• Implement IEP and 504 Plans.
• Counsel and assist students when academic problems arise.
• Collaborates effectively with others to improve student achievement and teaching practices.
• Maintains a professional appearance.
• Perform related duties, such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, as directed by the administration.
