Job Title:  MS/HS Spanish Teacher

Reports to:  MS/HS Principal

Essential Responsibilities:  Lone Tree Community School District is seeking a Spanish Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain a valid Iowa teaching license with a 5-12 Spanish teaching endorsement. 

1. Teach Spanish 1 through 4 with the use of Cengage’s ¡Exploremos! Curriculum and an 8th-grade exploratory Spanish class. 
2. Use a variety of teaching methods/techniques to ensure a productive learning environment for all students. 
3. Select and request instructional aids/materials as needed to maintain an up-to-date learning environment. 
4. Maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
5. Assess students’ academic growth and keep appropriate records.  Prepare progress reports as assigned.
6. Communicate with parents and school counselors to discuss students’ academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements as needed and at Parent/Teacher Conferences.
7. Maintain professional competence through district-provided professional development activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
8. Maintain a professional rapport with students, staff, parents, and the community.
9. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
10. Administer group-standardized tests in accordance with the district testing program.
11. Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
12. Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
13. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date online gradebook.
14. Implement IEP and 504 Plans.
15. Counsel and assist students when academic problems arise.
16. Collaborates effectively with others to improve student achievement and teaching practices.
17. Maintains a professional appearance.
18. Perform related duties, such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, as directed by the administration.
