Position Summary
The Kingsley-Pierson Community School District is seeking a highly motivated and student-centered educator to serve in a unique dual-role position. This individual will provide special education services to middle school students (grades 5–8) and coordinate and deliver Talented and Gifted (TAG) programming for students in grades K–12. The successful candidate will foster academic growth, support individualized learning needs, collaborate with staff and families, and promote excellence for all learners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Middle School Special Education (0.5 FTE)
- Provide direct instruction and support services to students with disabilities in grades 5–8.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide accommodations, modifications, and instructional support.
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and eligibility determinations.
- Maintain accurate special education records and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and support staff regarding student progress and needs.
- Support students in developing academic, behavioral, organizational, and social-emotional skills.
- Participate in building intervention teams and problem-solving processes.
K–12 Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program (0.5 FTE)
- Coordinate and facilitate the district's K–12 Talented and Gifted program.
- Identify students for TAG services using multiple measures and district criteria.
- Develop and implement enrichment, acceleration, and extension opportunities for identified students.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate instruction and support advanced learners.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and program effectiveness.
- Maintain records and documentation related to TAG programming and student participation.
- Communicate with students, families, and staff regarding TAG services and opportunities.
- Provide professional learning and support to staff regarding best practices for gifted education.
- Coordinate participation in academic competitions, enrichment experiences, and advanced learning opportunities.
- Stay current on Iowa TAG requirements, research, and best practices.
