MMCRU Community School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Middle School English/Language Arts Teacher to serve students in 7th grade for the 2026–2027 school year.
We are looking for an educator who is passionate about literacy, committed to high expectations, and skilled in building strong relationships with students, families and colleagues.
Position Overview- Teach 3 sections of 7th grade English/Language Arts (82 minute blocks)
- Teach 1 exploratory course
- Collaborate as part of a strong middle school team focused on student success
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned English/Language Arts instruction that engages all learners
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including reading and writing workshop, discussion-based learning and small group instruction
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Assess student learning and use data to inform and adjust instruction
- Create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes engagement and achievement
- Support students in developing reading comprehension, writing skills, vocabulary and critical thinking
- Integrate technology and authentic literacy experiences into instruction
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Communicate effectively with students, families and staff regarding student progress
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and district initiatives
- Support school-wide expectations, including PBIS and behavior supports
- Valid Iowa Teaching License with appropriate endorsement in English/Language Arts (5–12 or K–8) & Reading (5-12 or K-8)
- Strong understanding of Iowa Core Literacy Standards
- Knowledge of effective literacy instruction and assessment practices
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families
- Commitment to continuous professional growth
- Middle school teaching experience preferred, but not required
- Experience with reading and writing workshop models
- Familiarity with literacy interventions and differentiation strategies
- Ability to integrate technology to enhance literacy learning
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Passion for fostering a love of reading, writing and communication
