The School Kitchen/Food Service Worker supports the daily operation of the school nutrition program by assisting with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and ensuring students receive nutritious meals in a positive, welcoming setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with food preparation, cooking, and portioning of meals according to established menus and nutrition guidelines
Serve breakfast and/or lunch to students in a courteous and efficient manner
Operate kitchen equipment safely (ovens, warmers, slicers, dishwashers, etc.)
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, serving lines, dishes, utensils, and food storage areas
Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards (HACCP guidelines)
Assist with receiving, stocking, rotating, and storing food and supplies
Monitor portion sizes and minimize food waste
Support accurate meal counts and production records as required
Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, administration, and school personnel
Model professionalism and positive interactions with students
Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director or Kitchen Manager
