Iowa Valley CSD seeks a Junior High Volleyball Coach for the 2026-2027 School Year. Iowa Valley is located in Marengo, Iowa, which is 10 miles North of I-80 and approx. 30 minutes West of the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor.
A Junior High Volleyball Coach is responsible for teaching fundamental skills, fostering sportsmanship, and organizing practices/games to develop student-athletes.
Key duties: Lead team development, supervise athletes, maintain safety standards, and foster a positive, inclusive environment, enforce academic eligibility, and manage equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Practice & Game Management: Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices and coach all scheduled matches, tournaments, and scrimmages.
- Skill Development: Teach proper volleyball techniques (passing, serving, setting, hitting) and strategies appropriate for the junior high level.
- Student Supervision & Safety: Supervise athletes at all times, including practices, games, and on school transportation, while following safety procedures and injury protocols.
- Mentorship & Character: Promote good sportsmanship, discipline, positive behavior, and academic responsibility.
- Communication: Maintain regular, clear communication with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedules and expectations.
- Equipment & Facilities: Manage the inventory, care, and maintenance of uniforms, equipment, and gym spaces.
