Southeast Valley Community School District is seeking a High School Assistant Play Director to assist with the production of the district’s high school play.
Position Responsibilities
The Assistant Play Director will work closely with the Play Director to:
- Assist with auditions, casting, rehearsals, and performances.
- Support students with character development, memorization, blocking, and performance skills.
- Help maintain a positive, organized, and encouraging rehearsal environment.
- Assist with costumes, props, scenery, set changes, makeup, and other production needs.
- Assist with backstage and technical responsibilities during performances.
- Supervise and support students throughout rehearsals and performances.
- Attend scheduled rehearsals, performances, and production-related activities.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and other individuals involved in the production.
- Perform other duties related to the high school play as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous theatre, drama, performing arts, or related experience preferred.
- Experience working with high school students preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Play Director.
- Ability to positively motivate and supervise students.
- Must be dependable and available for scheduled rehearsals and performances.
- Must meet all Southeast Valley CSD requirements for extracurricular personnel.
Schedule
This is an extracurricular/seasonal position. Rehearsal and performance schedules will be determined based on the high school play production calendar. Evening and occasional weekend commitments may be required.
