What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer: Employee Handbook Development position at Teachers' Teammates?
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.
We are looking for a volunteer to revise and update our employee handbook. Ideally, we'd like someone with a background in HR and/or operations to improve transparency and accountability by clarifying employees’ rights and our policies, benefits, and expectations for performance and conduct. This project includes: -Conducting an audit of existing policies, reviewing materials, and asking clarifying questions -Identifying policies to modify and any new areas to address -Presenting a detailed outline for a new handbook -Finalizing the handbook after team feedback
We'll provide our current handbook, internal communications, and any employment policies we have in place. The volunteer should expect to spend 15-20 hours over 4-5 weeks.
I will be the initial contact and drafted the original handbook. We have a small staff (2 full-time and 2 part-time seasonal workers), but we want to establish best practices in all areas, including communication. Our Board of Directors will review the draft for approval. Once finalized, the handbook will be distributed to current staff and all future hires.
Teachers' Teammates Mission: Our mission is to ensure all K-12 students and teachers in Delaware County have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom. We do this by engaging all stakeholders in education and repurposing and reusing dormant resources readily available to bridge the gap in educational resources. We want to demonstrate our encouragement, support and gratitude for the work of our teachers.
