Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, water trucks, and horizontal drilling machines to perform excavation, grading, paving, and utility work.
- Safely drive commercial trucks including dump trucks, tankers, water trucks, and flatbeds to transport materials and equipment to various construction sites.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections on all machinery and vehicles to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety procedures.
- Assist with construction utility work by locating underground utilities accurately using utility locating equipment before excavation or drilling activities commence.
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
- Collaborate with site supervisors to execute grading plans, excavation tasks, and site preparation activities efficiently.
- Maintain detailed logs of equipment usage, maintenance records, and transportation documentation to ensure accountability and compliance.
Experience
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators (including horizontal drilling), dozers (Caterpillar preferred), loaders, graders, backhoes, and water trucks in a construction environment.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with experience in commercial truck driving across various vehicle types including dump trucks and tankers.
- Strong mechanical knowledge for routine maintenance and troubleshooting of construction machinery.
- Familiarity with construction utility work including utility locating techniques and underground infrastructure safety standards.
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations along with strict adherence to equipment safety procedures.
- Prior experience working on construction sites with exposure to grading, paving, excavation, and site preparation activities.
- Ability to operate specialized equipment such as graders for site leveling or horizontal drilling machines for utility installation is highly desirable.
