Job Summary
Join our energetic team as an Equipment Operator to help ensure road safety and development by operating heavy machinery. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle a variety of tasks, from moving earth and materials to operating specialized equipment, ensuring projects run smoothly and safely. Your mechanical skills and road-building experience will be essential to maintaining efficient operations and producing high-quality results. While experience in county operations, road construction, and maintenance is helpful, it is not required. Paid time off includes 24 days annually, plus 12 Federal Holidays, totaling over 7 weeks. Duties

  • Operate heavy equipment, including road graders, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and other machinery, for grading, lifting, and material handling.
  • Operate various types of trucks, including belly dump trucks, dump trucks, and water trucks.
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards and perform basic maintenance or coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Diligently follow safety protocols at active job sites to prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining state-required road signs and rights-of-way.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance to ensure accountability and compliance with safety standards.

Experience

  • Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment, including graders, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and similar machinery, is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of road maintenance, building operations, and safety procedures, or a willingness to learn them.
  • Mechanical knowledge required to maintain and troubleshoot heavy equipment can be taught.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or willingness to obtain one, with experience operating a variety of trucks, including tractor-trailers, dump trucks, and water trucks.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT) equipment or comparable brands is beneficial.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
