Role Description
The Key Account Manager/Equity Partner role is a contract, hybrid position based in Carlsbad, CA, with a blend of on-site client engagement and work-from-home flexibility. Headquartered with an office/warehouse in Carlsbad, CA.
This role is responsible for managing and growing strategic key accounts, including regular on-site visits, relationship building, and coordination of technical and commercial support. Daily activities include developing account plans, identifying new business opportunities, preparing proposals and quotes, and collaborating with inside sales and technical teams to deliver tailored MRO and process control solutions. The individual will monitor account performance, analyze customer needs and trends, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.
Aa an equity partner, the role will transition to a part-owner of the company. It requires balancing significant financial upside with new risks, like capital contributions, company liabilities, and the heavier administrative duties of running a business. This position also participates in strategic business planning, contributes to revenue and margin growth initiatives, and provides input on long-term market development.
Qualifications
- Strong account management capabilities, including experience with Key Accounts and long-term client relationship development.
- Demonstrated Analytical Skills to interpret sales data, customer requirements, and market trends, and translate findings into actionable strategies.
- Proven Business Planning experience, including pipeline management, forecasting, and development of strategic account plans.
- Commitment to high-quality Customer Service, with the ability to address technical and commercial questions and coordinate solutions across internal teams.
- Experience in industrial distribution, MRO supplies, valves, automation, or process control strongly preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, managing time between on-site visits in San Diego & Imperial, CA and remote work.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with comfort engaging stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Business ownership and/or management experience strongly preferred.
