As a Sheet Metal Apprentice, you will:
- Assist in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of sheet metal duct systems
- Learn to measure, cut, bend, and form sheet metal using hand tools and power equipment
- Install ducts, fittings, hangers, insulation, and air distribution components
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and layout plans
- Support installation of HVAC equipment and air handling systems
- Learn proper use of fabrication tools including brakes, shears, and plasma cutters
- Work alongside experienced sheet metal journeymen and foremen
- Attend weekly ABC classroom training (typically evenings)
- Follow structured training milestones throughout the 4-year program
- Maintain safe work practices aligned with TDIndustries standards
- Program begins in May
- Structured 4-year apprenticeship combining paid field work with ABC schooling
- Curriculum includes duct fabrication, air distribution, code requirements, blueprint reading, safety, and mechanical fundamentals
- Full-time work with scheduled pay increases as skills progress
- All hours and training count toward journeyman certification requirements
