The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor in the Evening Barbering Program at our Clarksville Campus. This is a grant-funded position.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma from accredited Barbering program preferred.
Active Tennessee Barbering Instructor license OR active Tennessee Cosmetology Instructor license and willingness/ability to successfully complete a 300-hour Barber training program and obtain Barbering Instructor license.
Minimum of three years of full-time Barbering experience with Barbering Instructor license OR three years of full-time Cosmetologist experience with active Cosmetology Instructor license OR three years of full-time Master Barber experience and willingness/ability to successfully complete a 300-hour Barber Instructor training program and obtain Barbering Instructor license.
Teaching, training or management experience preferred.
Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all areas of the instructional field.
Must commit to remain licensed and maintain program accreditation(s).
SKILLS
Must possess the organization and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with all students.
Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
Must be willing to remain current in the Barbering profession.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Computer skills required.
GENERAL DUTIES: The Evening Barbering Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to prepare students for employment as Barbers. The Barbering Associate Instructor will develop, plan, and prepare a complete and progressive course of study including lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides; monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; enter and maintain student records on a regular basis in the college’s student records management system; assist with recruitment, placement, and follow-up of students; and other duties as assigned. This position must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This is not a remote position; all instruction is delivered in-person. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Class schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. This is a grant-funded position.
SALARY: $51,149-$61,379 per year ($26.23-$31.47 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
