Job Summary: The Cost Accountant supports the Finance team by analyzing costs, tracking financial performance, and offering forecasting and budgeting support. This position plays a key role in creating costing reports, identifying and researching variances, and collaborating with operations and engineering teams to improve efficiency and profitability. This role is also involved with month-end close, financial modeling, and capital expenditure tracking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain monthly inventory valuation models, generate monthly inventory reports, manage transaction updates for annual physical inventory counts, prepare inventory count result schedules, and coordinate audit of count activity.
- Analyze and provide monthly margin analysis by part, customer, and product line to management.
- Play a key role in month end close process by reviewing and tracking product cost activities, reviewing production variances, and inventory valuation review and reserves for final recording in financial statements. Process these activities in a timely manner in line with close schedule.
- Work with operations and engineering to maintain appropriate costing structure(s).
- Participate in financial planning and budget preparation as well as follow-up controls related to both short-term and long-term plans.
- Build, maintain, and improve forecasting and financial models to analyze performance, evaluate scenarios, and support business decisions.
- Extract, clean, and analyze large data sets from various sources to inform business strategies and process improvements.
- Identify and recommend enhancements to existing financial processes and systems to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Partner with other departments to complete key projects and strategic initiatives.
- Provide cross-departmental backup and assistance to Finance department roles.
- Perform additional tasks, duties or projects as requested.
Skills, Qualifications, & Experience:
- Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with five (5) or more years’ experience, ideally within a multi-location manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, advanced Excel skills needed, and NetSuite experience preferred.
- Knowledge of import sourcing and multi-location inventory management.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to translate results into clear, actionable insights.
- Positive outlook and attitude, with a determined and success-driven work ethic.
- Works well with others in a collaborative manner and helps foster a supportive work environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately and within deadlines.
- Self-starting, with ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
