Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Senior Construction Estimator to lead project costing, budgeting, and preconstruction efforts for high-value residential construction projects. This individual will play a key role in evaluating project costs, supporting design and construction teams, managing trade partner pricing, and ensuring financial alignment from early planning through contract execution. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in delivering accurate estimates across multiple stages of project development.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project budgets using drawings, specifications, and design information.
- Produce cost projections at various stages of project planning and design.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
- Identify scope discrepancies and assist with subcontractor selection and procurement decisions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess cost impacts related to design changes and project modifications.
- Recommend cost-saving alternatives while preserving project objectives, quality standards, and constructability.
- Track market pricing trends and maintain historical cost data to improve future estimating accuracy.
- Support project teams with budget updates, cost reporting, and financial analysis throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trade partners and suppliers.
- Assist with process improvements, estimating standards, and mentorship of junior team members.
Qualifications
- 2 years of construction estimating experience within residential, custom home, design-build, or similarly complex construction environments.
- Proven ability to prepare comprehensive estimates from conceptual budgeting through final procurement phases.
- Strong understanding of construction assemblies, materials, labor productivity, and project costing methodologies.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and consultant documentation.
- Background analyzing subcontractor proposals, performing cost comparisons, and supporting buyout activities.
- Proficiency with estimating technology, plan review software, Microsoft Office, and construction cost management systems.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and organization.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with design, purchasing, field operations, and project leadership teams.
- Prior experience coaching or guiding less experienced estimators is a plus.
Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
