Salary: $62,000–$75,000 Profit Sharing

Schedule: 4×9-hour days 4-hour Friday (salary position, rare overtime)

Badger Magnetics, a trusted manufacturer of custom electromagnetic coils and transformers since 1955, is hiring a Purchasing Agent / Material Planner to join our operations team in Lino Lakes, MN. This role combines strategic purchasing with material planning to ensure we have the right materials at the right price and time — keeping production efficient in our fast-paced, family-oriented environment.

What You’ll Do

• Manage day-to-day purchasing and material planning to support sales, manufacturing, and engineering
• Source materials and secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery from suppliers
• Prepare and submit requests for quotes (RFQs) and expedite orders as needed
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while expanding our supplier base (goal: identify 3 options for key products where possible)
• Maximize inventory turns using our MRP system while ensuring continuous material availability
• Resolve supplier issues related to quantity, cost, quality, and delivery in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate records of suppliers, parts, costs, and purchase orders in our EVO ERP system
• Communicate potential impacts on cost, quality, or delivery to the team proactively
• Participate in daily production meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
• Start with $5,000 purchase approval authority (increasing to $10,000) — most transactions fall within this range

First 6–12 Months Success Looks Like:

Getting fully familiar with our current supplier base, identifying additional sourcing options (aiming for 3 alternatives per product where feasible), and beginning to deliver measurable cost savings through smarter buying practices.

What You’ll Bring

• 3 years of purchasing and material planning experience in a manufacturing environment (required)
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel (2 years required)
• Associate’s degree in business, supply chain, finance, or equivalent experience (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (EVO experience helpful; we are looking to better utilize MRP functionality)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong follow-up and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting
• A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to collaborate across teams (including with our new Quality Manager on supplier quality)
• Any experience with electromagnetic components, wire, insulation, cores, metal fabrication, or similar products is a big plus
• CPM, CPSM, APICS, Lean, or other relevant certifications preferred but not required

We prefer local candidates for the Lino Lakes, MN location. Relocation assistance is not currently offered.
