We are seeking a skilled Welder / Shop Mechanic to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for welding, fabrication, and structural repairs on lift trucks, attachments, and other industrial equipment. Candidates must be able to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test as a condition of employment.
When welding work is not available, this role will assist with light mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment inspections. The ideal candidate is a strong welder with solid mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding on equipment, attachments, and structural components.
- Fabricate, modify, and repair metal parts according to blueprints and specifications.
- Pass and maintain qualification under the AWSD14 Welding Test.
- Inspect equipment and identify repair requirements.
- Perform light mechanical repairs and maintenance on forklifts and industrial equipment.
- Assist with repairs to hydraulic, fuel, cooling, electrical, and exhaust systems.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability and performance.
- Operate equipment to troubleshoot issues and verify completed repairs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, and parts handling as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Ability to pass the company's AWSD14 Welding Test.
- Minimum of 3 years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in structural welding and metal fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment repairs.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities including bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred
- Technical, vocational, or trade school training in welding, fabrication, mechanics, or a related field.
- Experience working on forklifts, heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulics, or industrial equipment.
- Current welding certifications.
