What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oyster Farmer-Flip Bag Operation position at Taylor Shellfish?
Wage Rage: Hourly Production Bonus $19.50-$30.00
As a member of the Flip-Bag crew you will be responsible for taking part in the harvest, transplanting, and planting of specialty oysters. This requires the ability to handle heavy loads and be able to lift up to 60lbs. The worker is responsible for completing each task they are assigned for pay to be counted. A crew member is responsible for the equipment assigned to them, and must be able to work day or night tides in all types of weather conditions. This means the crew members must wear appropriate protective clothing. Flip-Bag crews are to report to their crew boss for hours, places, and transportation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Harvesting, planting, and transplanting Flip-Bag oysters
- Installing Flip-Bag Infrastructure
- Assisting with regular boat work
- Would be a plus if you have Washington Boaters card
- General maintenance of farm
- Must be a hard worker
- Must be willing to work long hours
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must complete safety orientation prior to working on the beach.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions(wet, cold, hot, dry) at various times of the day and night
- Must be able to work day and night as tides vary throughout the different seasons.
- Must be physically able to lift and handle up to sixty pounds.
- Must wear proper safety gear when necessary.
- Must work well with other crew members
- Must pick up any garbage found on the beach and never leave any of their own garbage on the beach
- Must maintain proper employee conduct including being aware and respectful of the time of day, noise level, and the homeowners that surround the beaches.
